I decided to try tofu and I have very little idea of what to do with it. I looked up how to drain and cook or stir fry it but thats about all I know.
When you stir fry tofu do you put sauces with it to make it more tasty?
Can you refrigerate tofu after you've cooked it?
What does baked tofu mix well with?

Tofu takes on the flavor of what you put with it, so whatever you do with it, let it stay with something else for a long time. Cook it slowly, or chop it and then soak it in sauce in the refrigerator for like a day before you use it.
Yes, it can be refrigerated after you cook it too. Just make sure to cover it/seal it up or it will dry out.
I like stir fried tofu mixed with Japanese mixed vegetables and ginger sauce. Can you help me with tofu?
I actually like tofu plain.
If I were you, I'd try it like that first to see if you even like it.
Try freezing it and then thawing it. That dramatically changes the texture. I don't like ';bouncy'; tofu, I freeze mine so it is chewy.
Stir fry tofu is really good. I generally always dice my tofu and brown it off first in a fry pan with a little bit of oil, onion and garlic or whatever spices you want to add. they add it to your wok or meal. Just cook your stirfry like normal so you have your vegetables in your wok then you add your browned tofu. Its up to if you add a sauce. You can by bottled ones but they sometimes have a lot of salt.
here is an easy simple recipe for a stir-fry sauce.
2 tablespoons Oyster Sauce
1 tablespoon Soy sauce
1 teaspoon crushed chillies (adjust or omit to taste)
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Hope this helped good luck with your expermintation with tofu
okay, this is amazing.. try it.. http://japanesefood.about.com/od/tofu/r/friedtofumush.htm
stir fried tofu goes well with veggies like celery, capsicum, cabbage and babycorn..yes you can refridgerate tofu..yes you can put sauces to enhance its taste..i just grill or steam them and drizzle some sauce over them...cayenne pepper sauce is the best, because it overruns the estrogenic ingredients in the tofu..
Freeze your tofu to give it a chewier texture and make sure you press before you cook (tips in my profile).
Tofu has no flavor of its own, so it will go with almost any sauce or veggies you want. It's quite versatile! If you're veg, nix the oyster sauce, as it has--duh!--oysters in it. But you can make your own stir-fry sauces or use bottled stuff.
If you're baking, you can season your tofu with sauces, coat with bread crumbs and seasonings for an ';oven-fried'; dish, and serve with whatever. If you use Italian seasonings, make some pasta and veggies with marinara sauce. Or you can marinate the tofu in whatever sauces you like and bake it.
And of course you can refrigerate the cooked tofu; it's called leftovers. I make three meals from a block of tofu. I cut my tofu into six slices, cook it up, and then eat two slices at a time with my sides.
I suggest you deep-fry them, it is lovely and you can go with chilli sauce, tomatoe sauce or mayo.
It all depends on what type of dish you are doing. If you are stir-fry pan-fried/deep-fried tofu with vegetables, simple one, is salt and pepper. Slighty more complex, vegetarian oyster sauce or mushroom sauce. Or make a simple stir-fry sauce with light soy sauce, sugar, salt and cornstarch.
