What's the best oil or thing to fry tofu with, without it getting burnt?

whenever I try to fry it it turns out nasty

how long should it cook for, and on what heat?

and are there better ways to prepare tofu? What's the best oil or thing to fry tofu with, without it getting burnt?
Mo R is right. Use peanut oil. It's got a higher smoking temperature than olive, canola, or corn oil. It also adds a nice taste to the tofu. (Try freezing it, then thawing and squeezing out all the moisture. It really soaks up a lot of sauce then!)What's the best oil or thing to fry tofu with, without it getting burnt?
try a basic lasagna with spagetti sauce and lasagna noodles dry

in the between layers cut the tofu into fried squares and add to the

lasagna caserole then I add mozorella cheese you can use any you like cheeses if your ovo-lacto vegan and the lasagna is baked

with the layers of sauce then noodles dry out the box then

more layer of sauce add tofu fried with soy sauce, then cheese

or can use ricotta then more noodles and layer in sauce then anothe rlayer tofu sprinkled in and cover with noodles and

then cheese and sauce and last layer noodles and sauce

the tofu helps the middle layers hold together I like

to add in a layer of egg plant slices thin to the lasagna

in a layer of onion and garlic and ricotta cheese well drained

then on top I cover the sauce and noodles with bread crumbs and parm

dusted over the top of the sauce so it makes a crusty

brown caserole top.

cheers
My favorite way is to cube extra firm tofu and marinate it in World Harbors Jerk sauce for as much time as you have. Saute it in a hot pan with a little olive oil till browned on each side. Mix in 1 sliced red pepper, a can rinsed black beans, 1/2 a can of pineapple chunks and the remainder marinade. heat til flavors blend and serve over rice.
I personally like to use peanut oil, it adds a nice flavor to the tofu... after the oil is hot, add the tofu and turn down to medium, just watch and flip tofu - depending on how you like it... I usually remove it from the oil when its a very light brown. Then put in between paper towels to absorb the excess oil.
olive oil can be sauteed at high temperature. i think making tofu in a pan is better than on the grill

put spices on tofu like cumin, coriander, salt pepper. fry tofu spice side down until golden brown
Canola oil. Olive oil is ok for sauteing but should not be used at high temps.
try broiling it on medium/low heat or barbecue.

sesame oil seems to add a good flavor to it
