Fry it with some veggies, onion and soy sauce. I learned to cook full meals when I was 12. Never too young to start. :)I JUST BOUGH TOFU FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT. LOL?

well, first thing is to buy a Chinese cookbook. They use tofu all the time and it's great. My favorite though is to fry it in olive oil in a cast iron skillet or wok. You can add most anything to it and the tofu will pick up the taste of the added ingredients.
you can really do just about anything you want with tofu as far as cooking goes. If you arent into spices just slice it up and marinate it in some soy sauce, and fry it in a pan with a little olive oil until its brown on both sides. Actually use any marinade you prefer, or fry it plain though it doesnt have much flavor. And yes you can eat it out of the package as well, or cube it and throw it in a salad or make a sandwich out of it. :) Just some quick and easy tips..cooking with tofu can be fun and you can be very creative!
put it with eggs. cut it up as big as you want and stick it in the frying pan with the eggs, when the eggs are done so is the tofu. (you don't need to cook tofu)
Believe it or not, you can put tofu in smoothies and it's delicious! (You could just stick it in the blender with some frozen strawberries and bananas or whatever you like.) You can also put it in bread %26amp; muffins and you hardly taste it, but it gives them some moisture. My favorite is banana muffins/bread with tofu.Or you can just cook it up in a stir fry with some vegetables. You were asking if you can eat it from the box - yes, you can, but personally I don't think it tastes very good!Good luck! :)

Tofu has a magical way of taking on the flavor of other things. Try scrambling it with eggs,or making sweet and sour soup.
Cut it into small peices and fry it in oil for three minutes on each side. You can use the peices in a stir fry or any other meal that you would use chicken or beef, or you can dip it in plum sauce and it's just like chicken fingers!
Easiest things:

You can leave it like it is partially drained and add it to stuff. My girlfriend makes a tofu salad with veganaise(vegan mayonnaise) paprika, onion powder, garlic powder and relish. Dice the tofu up into about half inch cubes then mix it all together..can add some dried parsley if you'd like.

otherwise you can dry it out well and sautee it or bake it...

freezing it solid first will make it spongier. =)
Crumble it ontop of your salad, or cut into one inch cubes, marinade with a little Teriyaki sauce, put on skewers with pineapple and onion, or whatever vegies you have on hand, then BBQ until hot. It does not require cooking, you can eat it right out of the box.
Before trying to cook it yourself I would recomend going to a vegetarian restaurant and ordering some to see how it is supposed to turn out.

When I cook tofu impromptu I normally just throw it in a skillet with some onions and jalapenos and other miscellanious vegetables and saute it until it is a golden color.

It turns out pretty tasty most of the time.
tofu---you can do practically anything with it :) :)

it's a big flavor picker upper
