Tofu is so good for you, but to me it tastes terrible. How can I make it more palatable?

I bought some firm tofu this weekend, but have NO idea how to cook, so any recipe/cooking suggestions are welcome.

I guess i could sautee it with veggies, but how do I give it flavor? What sauces or spices?Tofu is so good for you, but to me it tastes terrible. How can I make it more palatable?
let it marinade for awhile in some teriyaki sauce; some garlic and chilis or whatever asian-style cooking sauce or marinate you have handy. then stir fry it with some veg, noodles or rice.

YUM!Tofu is so good for you, but to me it tastes terrible. How can I make it more palatable?
Throw some hot sauce on it
beef/chicken stock work good, use it in soups or cook in in come type of sauce
soft tofu is so yummy..but firm tofu hmm usually my mom just puts some soy sauce and chopped spring onions on top of it. Or she fries it with flour, eggs, and oil. For that, you first dab slices of tofu in flour, put it in a bowl of raw, mixed eggs, and then fry it in a pan of oil. And eat with a little soy sauce! its tasty
I'm a vege, and tofu isn't the best. You can add anything to it, sauce wise...I like curry sauces because they are quite strong. If you want an alternative to tofu, try quorn...a WHOLE lot nicer ;)
agreed, it's not the best. you can also use Worchester (sp?) sauce to marinade it.

I'll use it mostly as filler so its flavour isn't what stands out, just dice it fairly small.

I almost never cook with tofu, but I do have one thing I make that is really good:

I'll get some won-ton wrappers and then add in diced, marinated tofu and those shreds of cabbage/broccoli that you can get in the salad section, also some mushrooms. coat the won-ton wrapper with egg so it seals and then just roll up a little bit of the mixture in there. You could deep fry it, but I just coat the wrappers with the leftover egg and then bake until it's a little brown.

they make for great appetizers.

then for a dipping sauce, I do an easy wasabi-brown mustard sauce. I think i also add some mayonnaise in there just so it doesn't get too spicy.
Tofu is really good stir fried with vegetables. Start some garlic and fresh ginger going in a pan with a bit of oil, and then throw everything in. Add soy sauce if you like.

There are many ways to cook it, but it must absorb flavor in some way--marinade, in soups, stews, sauces, etc.--because it's pretty tasteless on its own. Do a search. This is a good site. http://www.savvyvegetarian.com/vegetaria鈥?/a>
