I plan on making tofu tacos tonight for the first time. I'm going to use crumbled tofu as the ';meat';. I've already frozen and thawed the firm tofu. I'm going to drain the tofu before I crumble it. How do I crumble it? With hands, a fork, etc? And, I am going to cook it on the stove with onions and garlic. For how long should I cook it? Any additional details? Thanks!Tofu tacos. I usually crumble firm tofu by hand but you can also use a potato masher. I would saute your onions and garlic for 7-8 minutes and then add the spices and toast them for a minute before adding the tofu. Once you add the tofu, cook it until it browns a little---maybe 10 minutes or so, stirring occasionally to keep it from sticking to the pan.Tofu tacos. A few questions..?
If it is firm tofu I would crumble it with a fork. Also, I would add a little chipotle powder to the onions and garlic, just a personal preference of mine! Usually you can cook it until it gets warm because it wont ';brown'; like regular tofu.
