Advice for cooking tofu?

Hello! I have been a vegetarian for a long time....... but I am new to tofu. I also do not eat sugar (or flour) because of allergies. I am wondering if anyone can give me advice on preparing and cooking tofu without the use of sugar or flour? (I am not sure how much the flour applies... haha)

I am totally confused and thrown off by tofu.. the only successful experience I have had (OUT OF MANY!) with cooking tofu is in a stir fry, and I would prefer to eat it by itself, not mixed with anything like a stir fry.

If anyone can give me any advice on cooking tofu, it would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!!!Advice for cooking tofu?
You can always find recipes for baked tofu, all you have to do is marinate it in what you like, put a bit of oil on it and bake it until firmer. Just make sure to fully drain and press your tofu before cooking it so that it isn't full of water and to season it quite well as it can be a bit bland.Advice for cooking tofu?
What I really like is chopping it up and mixing mayo, chopped onion, sweet pickles, celery and poultry seasoning to make mock chicken salad (or--follow any chicken salad recipe substituting tofu for the chicken); but another way is to cut it into 'sticks', slather any kind of spices you like, then bake it at a fairly low temperature long enough to get it dry and nicely browned. The longer you marinate tofu in spices or flavor before cooking, the better it tastes.
Are you new to tofu eh?

Tofu is one of the products made by soybeans. Let me introduce you to how tofu is made.

First, you get soy beans right. Then you grind them up, and put water in it, then you filter out the solids after boiling the water for a while. The water that you have is ....Soy milk';

Now you take this soy milk, add something like lemon or gypsum after it has reached a high temperature. The...soy milk will start to coagulate, like turn into solid. Yeah? then you put a weight on the solid, to drain out the water, then depending on how long you leave the weight there, you will get different types of tofu. Yeah?

So basically tofu is already ready to eat, but you may want to cook it first ...or steam it just to be safe, i.e kill some bacterias.

What i'd do is just to wash it, or steam it for a while, and then put some soy sauce on it, and then that's delicious enough on its self.

Or if you want to deep fry it. Coat it in potato or tapioca flour, and then fry it until the skin gets crunchy. Then coat it with soy sauce, or some other sauce that you fancy. That is pretty nice too.

Tempeh is made from soybeans too. You may want to try that. Do a search on it. It's made from soybeans, but it's not grinded like tofu is, but rather it's soybeans compacted together and fermented.
Have you tried baking it? If you marinate it with a sauce that has cornstarch, you can bake or fry it and it gets all crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside and is oh so nice.

You can also have tofu scramble. (Just like scrambled eggs.) Use lots of veggies and season liberally. (Toss in some turmeric if you want the yellow color.)
