I want to cook with tofu, but haven't found a good easy recipe yet. How can I make it tasty?

Tofu by itself is pretty bland so a good marinade really helps. I start with firm tofu and cut it into 3/4 chunks and put it in a ziplock. I add soy sauce, lots of fresh chopped or pressed garlic, some black pepper and some olive or sesame oil and let it sit for at least four hours or overnight in the fridge. Actually, what I usually do is put the whole package of tofu in the marinade, let it set for at least one night and just use it as I cook each meal over the next week, leaving whatever I'm not using in that bag in the fridge.

To cook the marinaded tofu, heat oil in a skillet and add the tofu, it should be hot enough that the tofu should be sizzling lightly on the edges but the oil shoul never be allowed to smoke. You can add more soy or pepper or sesame oil or dried hot pepper to flavor the tofu at the end of cooking. Once the tofu is cooked, you can add it to other recipes, or add it to sauteed vegetable.I want to cook with tofu, but haven't found a good easy recipe yet. How can I make it tasty?
It's never really ';tasty'; but if you marinate it, it helps.I want to cook with tofu, but haven't found a good easy recipe yet. How can I make it tasty?
Scramble like eggs, starting with 1/2 teaspoon turmeric spice (per 16oz tofu block) to jazz up the color and taste. Add garlic, tamari, salsa or any of your other favorites. The turmeric is the key for color. Don't forget to drain the tofu first.

Often times you can just add the tofu to your chili's, cassaroles, etc...tofu soaks up the flavor of the sauces. Just cube and add!
tofu will absorb anythimg it is cooked in....by itself blaand....but a perfect sponge. for anything you add to it

yea...anything!! wwhatever ya like
Here's a very, very easy way to have Tofu for dinner.

Buy a block of firm tofu and cut it into cubes. Buy a pacakage of Simply Asia Noodles %26amp; Sauce Meal kits (Teriyaki and Garlic Sesame are good flavors). Cook the noodles and then add the sauce pack. Now add your tofu cubes and cook a couple of minutes. Presto! You're done!

This meal is quick, easy, and the tofu and Simply Asia noodles can all be bought at your local Wal-Mart.
Why are you only limiting yourself to tofu? There are a lot of meatless options out there now that are much tastier and not so boring. Seitan is kind of a chewier version of tofu, and there are a lot of products made by Morningstar, Worthington, Boca, Gardenburger, and Amy's Organic. If you are feeling like some stir-fry, I would reccommend ';Meal Starters'; by Morningstar in the frozen section. They have either a soy-based meatless ';beef'; strip, and also a ';chicken'; strip. These are GREAT! They work good for fajitas. Just be open, and have fun!
