Been wanting to cook Tofu Stir fry?

Hello!



I've been wanting to make a tofu stir fry for the last week or so. I'm totally new to tofu and not really sure what to do. Some people posted recipes, but I talked with my mom and she said we don't have some stuff on the list.



I'm thinking about mixing cooked rice with spinach and the tofu and then cut up some steak and throw that in there as well. My mom and her friend are going to prepare the steak, rice and spinach. Not really sure how to cook the tofu, can I just throw it in the pan with the rice and spinach or in a separate pan? Do you cook tofu in a pan with butter or something else or do you just throw the tofu in the pan alone?



I just took it out of the fridge and it turns out that it's frozen from being in the back. Should I thaw it or should I just put it in the front of the fridge and hope it's thawed out by tomorrow?Been wanting to cook Tofu Stir fry?
The fun thing about tofu is it takes on the flavor profiles of what its cooked with. It sound more like your trying to make a fried rice then a stir fry. Sorry to get technical, but stir fry is most likely gonna have rice as a bed to lay it on. But, assuming that you like veggies. Heres how id go about it.

1. Boil your rice. When its cooked. Set it aside.

2. chop up your spinach and add it to the rice. The warm rice will actually begin to cook the spinace.

3. On a very high heat place a pan with about 3 tablespoons of oil in it.

Into it place strips of the steak that have been marinated in soysauce, brown sugar and garlic. sautee the constantly moving them around for roughly 3 mins, depending on the thinness of the strips. the thinner the better.

4. Slice peppers and onions and broccoli if you really want to and add those to the pan after removing the steak. The steak runoff will add more flavor to the veggies. stir them around untill they are cooked to your liking. I like mine just crispy so..about 3-4 mins.

5.Once you remove the veggies and have all the hot oil in the bottom of the pan, add the tofu and sautee until the outsides begin to brown and crisp. BOOM. done.

6. toss the steak veggie and tofu together in a bowl. Serve over the rice.



\7 for an added kick. add 1 egg for every 2 cups of rice and you can fry that up in the same pan for a great fluffy fried rice. just cook till its golden brown.



Plate eat and enjoy.

Easy Tofu Stir-fry





For the sauce:

* 1 1/2 cups water

* 1 tsp oyster sauce

* 1 tsp soy sauce

* 1 tsp cooking wine

* 1 tsp sesame oil

* 1 tsp sugar

For the dish:

* 12 oz firm or extra firm tofu, cubed

* 1 tsp salt

* 1 garlic clove, minced

* 2 tbsp soy or vegetable oil

* 1/4 tsp black pepper

* 2 cups assorted fresh or frozen vegetables (red pepper, baby corn, snap peas, carrots)

* 1 cup mushrooms, sliced

* 1/3 cup green onion, chopped

* 2 tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 1/4 cup (60 mL) water



Sprinkle salt over tofu cubes and mix well. Saute garlic and tofu in oil until sides of tofu become slightly brown.



Combine sauce ingredients. Set aside.



Add mushrooms, assorted vegetables and sauce mixture to tofu. Stir, cover and cook until boiling. Lower to medium heat and cook for 2 more minutes.



Add black pepper, green onions and cornstarch-water mixture. Stir well and cook until sauce is thickened. Serve over pasta or rice.
